Next week we will have your first presentations on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Your
topic is an illness or public health issue in your country. Ask yourself the question: What is the leading cause of death or suffering in your country? You can specify an age group--such as young people or the elderly--or you can discuss the general population. Then ask yourself why this is (cause), the result of this situation (effect), and a possible situation, if there is one. For example, if car accidents are a major cause of death in your country, then ask yourself why this is occurring and what could or should be done about the problem. If heart disease is your biggest problem, ask yourself why so many people suffer from this and what could or should be done to improve the situation.
Go to the following link to see the grading rubric for your upcoming
presentation. You will see that there are basically 4 components to the
presentation:
1. Content (30%)
2. Structure and organization (30%)
3. Delivery (30%)
4. Powerpoint (10%)

To
satisfy the feedback requirement, you must meet with at least 2 of your
classmates from either 5A or 5B THE DAY BEFORE you give your presentation in
front of the class. You can reserve one of the rooms with technology
equipment in the library to do this, or you can practice elsewhere. It
is the job of your "listeners" to fill out the feedback forms and give
you tips to improve your presentation. They should check for spelling or
grammar mistakes in your powerpoint.
It is also their
job to inform you if you satisfy the time requirement. If your
presentation is too long, you need to condense it; if your presentation
is too short, you need to develop it more. You will turn in 2 feedback
forms to me before you give your presentation.
The presentation should be 7-10 minutes.
